Marvel has announced their next big mutant event, following the poorly received Age of Revelation event late last year. DNX, which will kick off in September, will spring from the pages of Revelation as Cyclops tries to prevent the Age of Revelation from happening, while the Chairman (aka an evil version of the Beast) wants to make it all come true. Their respective factions will clash, and the X-Men will reach out to the Fantastic Four for help.
Current X-Men scribe Jed MacKay will work with artist Federico Vicentini to bring DNX to life.
“DNX is the next big milestone event of our X-Men run,” MacKay said. “Age of Revelation showed the future, and DNX shows that future’s impact on the present! The X-Men and 3K are on a collision course that has been set since issue one—and only one will survive. And with the Fantastic Four joining the fray, this is going to be an event that will transform the X-Men dramatically.”

If you missed Age of Revelation, it was an alternate future storyline in the vein of Days of Future Past or Age of Apocalypse. It was set in a world 10 years from now where Doug Ramsey, the former New Mutant turned Heir of Apocalypse, ruled with an iron fist. Cyclops and the Chairman both had their consciousness transported to this dystopia, with Cyclops vowing to keep it from happening and the former Beast giving it two furry thumbs up.
The Chairman’s villainous organization has a plan to make it come true:
The X-Men and 3K. Each steered by an original heir of Xavier, each with their own vision for the mutant people. Each at one another’s throats. Cyclops and the Chairman both experienced the future of the Age of Revelation and came home with a renewed mission: The X-Men to prevent that future. 3K to own it. While the X-Men seek out the Fantastic Four to help save one of their own, the White Beast begins his plan to unleash the X-Virus in a major population area!
“I’m so happy to be working on DNX,” Vicentini said. “I love what Jed is doing with X-Men, and I’ve been telling him for a long time that I wanted to work with him. Now the opportunity has arrived, and it’s an even bigger challenge because I finally have the chance to work on the Fantastic Four too!”
The first issue will, naturally, come with one of those blind bag variant cover programs that are all the rage right now. “Regular” variant covers of the first issue will come from Chip Zdarsky, Ryan Stegman, Marco Checchetto and John Tyler Christopher.
