Oni Press has shared more details on their upcoming Archie Comics line, including a change to the creative team on the Archie title.
When Oni and Archie Comics announced their partnership last year, W. Maxwell Prince was named as the writer on Archie. The series will now be written by Ben H. Winters, best known for his Last Policeman novels and for creating and showrunning CBS’s Tracker. Winters made his comics debut on Oni’s EC Comics line with Cruel Universe in 2024, followed by the miniseries Benjamin in 2025. He joins the art team of Fábio Moon and Nick Cagnetti, along with cover artist Stuart Immonen.
“What an extraordinary honor it is to write these stories,” Winters said. “And more importantly, what a total blast. Archie Andrews is an honest-to-goodness American icon, right up there with Mickey Mouse and Bart Simpson…and just like them, he’s enterprising, curious and kind, forever bouncing into some new adventure along with his loyal pals. I’m finding these characters delightful to write, for the same reason people have enjoyed reading Archie lo these many years — Riverdale’s just a fun place to hang out.”

Archie #1 arrives in September, following 17-year-old Archie Andrews through Riverdale’s past, present and future, beginning with a local film festival and a mystery only Jughead can unravel.
The line’s other two titles remain unchanged from the original announcement, although Oni did share more details on both. Sabrina the Teenage Witch #1, by writer Corinna Bechko and artist Kano, arrives in October, following Sabrina Spellman as she balances her magical abilities with high school life, until Salem drops a mythical trickster on her doorstep. Kano provides the cover for the first issue:

Who’d ever want to be ordinary when you could be a teenage witch instead? Still reeling from the surprise revelation of her secret birthright and with Halloween just around the corner, high schooler Sabrina Spellman is honing her craft one hex at a time and figuring out how to balance her magical new life with the crushing responsibilities of being 16 years old. But when her feline familiar Salem drops a mythical trickster on Sabrina’s literal doorstep, she might not be able to keep her two worlds from smashing together like two busted pumpkins. No time for fate. No time for destiny. No time for homework. Being a teenager is far from magical . . . even when you’re a witch!
Then in November, Archie in Hell #1 arrives from Patrick Horvath and Tyler Crook, a horror series following Archie across a timeline stretching from 1690 to the present. Horvath won an Eisner for his cozy serial killer comic Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, while Crook is known for books like Harrow County, so this is a very inspired team to usher in a new “Archie Horror” era.

In another time, in another Riverdale, Archie Andrews’ radiant life is about to turn pitch black. Separated from his friends and bound by a terrible curse, there’s only one way to save Archie: to damn him. But he won’t be alone for long . . .
The new line is timed to Archie’s 85th anniversary, marking his first appearance in Pep Comics #22 in 1941. Oni also plans to publish compact collections, deluxe hardcovers and omnibus editions of classic Archie material, with a middle-grade and young adult graphic novel line set for 2027.
