Oni announces midnight launch parties for ‘Sabrina’ #1

The new title joins the Marvel Midnight Universe for a nighttime drop on Oct. 7.

Sabrina #1, the upcoming title from Oni Press’ Archie line-up, is joining Marvel’s Midnight Universe titles for their big midnight release party. Retailers can start selling the title at 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 7, alongside Midnight X-Men, Midnight Fantastic Four and Midnight Spider-Man.

Marvel announced their midnight release party initiative to retailers earlier this month, along with other promotional efforts for retailers like posters, ashcan editions, glow-in-the-dark stickers and a light-up “Midnight” LED sign. Oni followed today with their own promotional offers, like an open-order variant cover available to retailers hosting a midnight party, featuring art by Chloe Brailsford:

Marvel’s September is shaping up with some big releases, not the least of which is issue #1000 of Amazing Spider-Man.

Marvel revealed the issue’s cover back in May, and it seems like everyone’s got an opinion on it. Drawn by legendary Marvel artist John Romita Jr. and colored by Paolo Rivera, the cover featured Spider-Man either swinging or shrugging, depending on who you asked. Both artists have plenty of Spider-Man on their resumes, and in Romita’s case, it’s in his blood, so they seem like natural choices to mark this milestone. But, y’know, it’s the internet, and it can be loud, or at leats seem loud when you’re in the crosshairs.

Marvel’s Midnight Universe features dark takes on your favorite heroes

Jonathan Hickman, Ben Percy, Scie Tronc and more head to the darkside in the new line of comics that kick off this summer.

Marvel Comics is plunging its most beloved characters into the dark with the Midnight Universe, a new publishing line kicking off in August with three titles.

The initiative launches with Midnight X-Men #1 by Jonathan Hickman and Matteo Della Fonte on Aug. 5, followed by Midnight Fantastic Four #1 by Benjamin Percy and Kev Walker in September and Midnight Spider-Man #1 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and French artist Scie Tronc, making his Marvel Comics debut, in October.

“From the original New Universe to two Ultimate Universes, Marvel has a long history of creating and inspiring bold worlds filled with unforgettable characters and fresh ideas that feel new yet recognizable at the same time,” Editor in Chief C.B. Cebulski said. “With the new Midnight line, we’ve given some of our most outstanding creators the opportunity to delve into the darkest corners of their imaginations and birth some of the creepiest, most terrifying takes on the Marvel Universe you’ve ever seen.”
