Mad Cave Studios announces charity anthology ‘You Are on Native Land’

All profits from the September anthology will be donated to Not Our Native Daughters.

Mad Cave Studios will release You Are on Native Land: A Charity Comic for Indigenous Rights, an anthology collecting work by Indigenous comics creators, in September.

All profits from the book will be donated to Not Our Native Daughters, a Native-led, survivor-led organization dedicated to addressing the Missing, Murdered and Exploited Indigenous Women and Girls crisis.

“Storytelling has always been a way our people carry truth forward,” said contributing poet Kelly Lynne D’Angelo. “Being part of You Are on Native Land means honoring that responsibility — not just to be seen, but to be heard, celebrated and held.”

The anthology will also include contributions from Jon Proudstar, Gord Hill, Chas Lowry, Jackie Fawn, Steph Littlebird, Roy Boney, Jim Terry, David Cutler, David Mack and others. It also includes a reprint of Tribal Force #1 by Proudstar and Chris Williams, the first comic to feature a superhero team made up entirely of Indigenous heroes.

Ka-Zar rises again in a new miniseries by Thompson + Garcia

‘Ka-Zar: Lord of the Savage Land’ #1 arrives in September.

Marvel’s headed back to the Savage Land this fall, and writer Zac Thompson and artist Germán Garcia will be your tour guides.

Following his appearance in Empyre last year — where he died and came back — Ka-Zar will headline a new miniseries — Ka-Zar: Lord of the Savage Land. The comic will flesh out Ka-Zar’s new abilities since his resurrection, as well as introduce a new Savage Land villain.

“Ka-Zar: Lord of the Savage Land is the book I’ve always wanted to write,” Thompson said to Marvel.com. “It’s an absolute dream-come-true to take a character created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and propel them into the modern Marvel universe with a whole host of horrifying new powers! It’s been years since Ka-Zar had his own series and we wanted to mark the occasion with an evolution that channels something like Immortal Hulk but with a distinct throwback to the old adventure pulps that inspired the character’s creation 65 years ago.”

‘Star’ will shine in her own miniseries

The character’s co-creator, Kelly Thompson, will write the miniseries that spins out of ‘Captain Marvel.’

After debuting in the pages of Captain Marvel earlier this year, Marvel has announced that the new hero Star will receive her own miniseries, courtesy of her co-creator, Kelly Thompson.

“With some really exceptional standouts like the creation of Miles Morales and Kamala Khan, it’s pretty hard to get traction on a new character in modern comics, so the excitement surrounding Star has been really fun to watch,” Thompson told Marvel.com.
