‘Edge of Spider-Verse’ returns with more multiversal Spidersonas

Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, Travel Foreman and more will contribute to the first issue.

Marvel will return to the Spider-Verse next year for another shot of stories featuring alternate reality versions of Spider-Man. The four-issue Edge of Spider-Verse will kick off in February.

Much like the popular film series featuring Miles Morales and every other version of Spider-Man (and -Woman) you can imagine, these miniseries have introduced readers to new characters like Spider-Rex, Spider-Killer and Spinstress, the Disney princess Spidersona.

Here’s a look at what to expect in the first issue:

‘Marvel’s Voices: Spider-Verse’ will introduce two new spidersonas

Recluse and Spider-Friend make their debut in April.

Next month’s Marvel’s Vices: Spider-Verse special will put the spotlight on several existing Spider-folks, including Miles Morales and Silk, but they’ll be joined by two new characters: Recluse and Spider-Friend.

Spider-Friend will debut in a story written and drawn by Jason Loo, co-creator of The All-Nighter and the award-winning Afterlift. According to Marvel.com, he “comes from a corner of the Marvel Multiverse that’s filled with laugh tracks and filmed in front a live studio audience.”

Recluse, meanwhile, is co-created by Cheryl Lynn Eaton (Batman Secret Files, Bitch Planet) and Julian Shaw (Marvel’s Voices: Legacy). This spidersona lives on a dystopian world where Electro controls the power grid.

Here’s a look at the two new characters, who share the spotlight on a variant cover for the issue by InHyuk Lee:

With the success and critical acclaim that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse received — not to mention the awesome Spidersona artwork pros and fans created after seeing it — it makes sense that Marvel would make more Spider-Verse comics.

Coming in October, they’re doing just that — writer Jed MacKay and a bunch of artists will take Miles Morales on a six-issue tour of the multiverse. MacKay will work with Juan Frigeri, Arthur Adams, Stuart Immonen, Stacey Lee and more, according to Marvel.com.
