Slugfest is a roundup of cool announcements about projects coming to a shelf near you. This edition focuses on DC’s January 2026 solicitations.

DC K.O. continues in January, with the previously announced tie-in books like Knightfight and Superman, but also in two new one-shots.

Let’s look first at DC K.O.: The Kids Are All Fight Special #1, which picks up on some of the plot lines introduced in Titans — specifically Granny Goodness showing up to give our heroes, including Jon Kent/Superman, a hard time as they try to evacuate Earth.

DC K.O.’s brawl for all continues in December

Five series, a miniseries and four specials continue the knock down, drag out storyline.

DC K.O., DC’s big event series that will feature heroes and villains battling in a tournament for the honor of becoming “King Omega” and gaining the power to match Darkseid, will continue in December with a number of specials and tie-in issues in their regular titles.

DC previously announced the participants for the tournament, and December will bring a number of match-ups as the storyline progresses. Also, fights! Expect lots of brawling, according to Scott Snyder, the co-architect of the event (along with Joshua Williamson).

“When Josh and I were coming up with K.O., we realized that there’s a point in the story where this big tournament all the characters are taking part in would have an all-out brawl section,” said Snyder. “So the result of that is a whole month of slugfests fans have speculated about for decades. These are one-shot special issues that tie into the main story of DC K.O. and show the brutal face-offs between friends and foes alike. Some results will shock you, some may thrill you, but that’s what this event is all about. Knock down, drag out, brutal fun.”

Scott Snyder, Joshua Williamson + more pit hero against hero in ‘DC K.O.’

The DC All In event series will see heroes battling in a tournament for the honor of becoming King Omega.

Now here’s something we can get behind — DC has announced DC K.O., a new event series that features DC heroes in a smash’em up brawl-for-all style tournament, with enough power to rival Darkseid as the prize.

Scott Snyder will write the five-issue series, joined by artist Javi Fernandez. Joshua Williamson, meanwhile, will serve as Snyder’s tag-team partner and write several of the tie-in titles, including a prologue called Justice League: The Omega Act.

“DC K.O. is a knock-down, drag-out fight between all your favorite DC Super Heroes in a cosmic tournament to save the universe from Darkseid,” said Snyder. “Darkseid has evolved into something bigger and stronger than ever.”

“He’s destroyed the future,” added Williamson. “There’s no future for the DC Universe because of what he’s done—the heroes’ only shot is to stop him in the present.”

Slugfest | Gotham City Sirens reunite for a stellar heist in DC’s July solicitations

The Gotham City Sirens will reunite in July for another weekly miniseries, this one subtitled “Unfit for Orbit.” Poison Ivy, Catwoman and Harley Quinn target a new space-themed nightclub in Gotham, which leads to a confrontation with the club’s owner — Despero.

Leah Williams, who wrote last year’s Gotham City Sirens miniseries, returns for this five-part series, working with artist Haining. Terry and Rachel Dodson provide the main covers for each issue:

Slugfest | DC’s October solicitations bring new creative teams + storylines

DC’s October solicitations arrived this week, showcasing all the new storylines and changes to creative team that Scott Snyder and Joshua Williamson promised in their video earlier in the week. Yes, the sun has set on the Dawn of DC, and now we’re moving into the All In era.

Starfire, Donna Troy, Raven + Beast Boy get solo tales in ‘Tales of the Titans’

The new miniseries will kick off in July.

With the Titans taking center stage at DC in the absence of a Justice League, DC has announced another new Titans project for July — Tales of the Titans, which mirrors the Tales of the New Teen Titans series by Marv Wolfman and George Perez back in the 1980s.

Each issue of the four-issue miniseries will feature a solo story starring one of the Titans who isn’t currently featured in their own title. Shannon Hale and Dean Hale will write the first issue, with Javier Rodríguez on art. Here’s the description of the issue, which “puts the spotlight on the alien princess and warrior Starfire”:

DC will launch new Titans, Cyborg + Green Lantern titles

Dawn of DC continues in May.

DC has revealed three more titles and their creative teams for their 2023 Dawn of DC publishing initiative, which Publisher Jim Lee called “one of our most ambitious initiatives ever” and “a chance for us to tell bigger and bolder stories across our line” when it was announced back in November.

Today brings news of three new titles featuring some old favorites, all of which will kick off in May:

  • Titans by Tom Taylor and Nicola Scott, which is not surprising given the end of Nightwing #100 earlier this month
  • Green Lantern by Jeremy Adams and Xermánico, which will feature a main story focus on Hal Jordan, with a back-up by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Osvaldo Montos focusing on John Stewart.
  • Cyborg by Morgan Hampton, a graduate of The Milestone Initiative Talent Development Program, along with Tom Raney.

DC adds two new Walmart titles, renames others

‘Flash” and ‘Swamp Thing’ join the line-up, with new material by Tim Seeley, Gail Simone and more.

DC Comics is adding two more titles to its slate of Walmart-exclusive comics, bringing the number from four to six. And they are renaming two existing ones.

The two new titles are Swamp Thing 100-Page Giant and Flash 100-Page Giant, and like the other titles in the line they will feature new stories packaged with reprints of previous stories. Justice League and Teen Titans, meanwhile, will get new names — the former becomes Wonder Woman, while the latter will shorten its name to Titans — no doubt to match the name of the show that can be found on DC’s streaming service.
