DC’s October solicitations came out during the Sam Diego Comic-Con, and I’ve been negligent and in doing this monthly round-up of the new stuff and highlights they contain. So, forgive me — I blame the con! And actually you’d think that after SDCC and all the news DC dropped that there wouldn’t be much to talk about, but don’t worry — there’s plenty, beyond even the stuff I already covered, like the new Demon and Jonah Hex titles.

SDCC Slugfest | The morning after edition

With SDCC 2026 in the books, we round up news from DC, Mad Cave, Marvel and more.

Slugfest is a roundup of cool announcements about projects coming to a shelf near you. With the 2026 San Diego Comic Con wrapped up, this edition covers news and tidbits from the weekend I haven’t already covered. Hit the links for more information.

Following several DC Next Level reveals and their big Eisner wins on Friday night, DC continued to roll out announcements and previews over the weekend. Here’s a rundown of what they shared …

The Metropolis & Beyond Panel held on Saturday brought news of the October debuting DC All In Saga: Darkseid vs. the World. This one is by Scott Snyder, Joshua Williamson, Sanford Greene and Yasmine Putri, and will “present the hidden past of the being called Uxus, his descent into Darkseid, and his plans for the fate of all creation.” Yes, it is a Darkseid origin story, and we’re getting a pre-teen Darkseid out of it:

DC takes aim at its Next Level titles with a Deadshot one-shot

Gerry Duggan and Fernando Blanco team for a 48-page special this August.

DC Comics is pulling back the curtain on what’s ahead for its Next Level publishing initiative with Next Level: One Shot #1, a 48-page special from Gerry Duggan and Fernando Blanco.

In the issue, Deadshot takes on a job that goes sideways, drawing him into a conspiracy involving a father, his daughter and a web of super-powered lies running through the entire Next Level cast. The story promises to point toward what Duggan and Blanco call “a war on the horizon” for the line.

Slugfest | Act II of DC’s All In begins in March

New creators, storylines and title changes permeate through DC’s March titles.

Following the announcement of three new series coming in March as part of their Next Level initiative, DC today revealed what the post-DC K.O. universe will look like by sharing covers and information on their March titles. Their solicitations for that month, I believe, should arrive tomorrow, but today’s announcement will give you a good idea of what to expect from them.

Some of the changes and stories coming to their regular titles include:

  • In a world without Superman (Wha …?) the Superman titles will kick off a storyline called “Reign of the Superboys” that’ll feature Jon Kent, Superboy Prime, the young Clark Kent we’ve been seeing in Action Comics and more.
  • Titans becoming New Titans with issue #33 in March, with Tate Brombal and Sami Basri taking over the title
  • A 600th issue of Green Lantern featuring creators Jeremy Adams, Ron Marz, Xermanico, Darryl Banks and more
  • Ryan North and Gavin Guidry taking over as the creative team for The Flash
  • Denys Cowan joining Dan Watters on Nightwing
  • Aquaman being retitled Emperor Aquaman, as our hero heads to the stars
  • An alternative timeline story that’ll kick off in Wonder Woman, as she teams with her grown-up daughter Trinity to battle the Queen of America, the Matriarch
  • An oversized Batman #7 by Matt Fraction and Jorge Jiménez
  • Gotham City getting a new mayor who goes by the name Poison Ivy

DC levels up in March with Batwoman, Lobo + Deathstroke

DC Next Level kicks off in the spring with three new series — and more to come.

DC has revealed three new titles and their creative teams for June, as they reveal the first wave of “DC Next Level” titles they plan to roll out in 2026.

As announced at the New York Comic Con, DC Next Level is the “second act of the publishing initiative that began with the DC All In Special and the launch of DC’s Absolute universe” last year. Both Scott Snyder and Joshua Williamson will still steer the ship here in the post All In, post DC K.O. universe.

“Josh and I are excited to enter the second phase of DC All In with Next Level,” said Snyder. “From the launch of the DC All In Special, to the introduction of an Absolute universe, and into the DC K.O. event that we’re right in the middle of now, we’re determined to build on all of the fan enthusiasm, and the retail support and story momentum, by continuing to take big swings in 2026.”

The first three Next Level titles are:

  • Lobo, written by Skottie Young with art by Jorge Corona
  • Batwoman by Greg Rucka and DaNi
  • Deathstroke the Terminator by Tony Fleecs and Carmine Di Giandomenico

Let’s you and him fight: DC reveals all the ‘DC K.O.’ tournament participants

Dan Mora’s variant cover for the first issue of the event series reveals both expected and surprising entrants.

DC has revealed all the participants in the DC K.O. tournament, a big storyline that begins this fall and finds DC’s heroes (and some villains) competing for the honor of becoming King Omega.

Scott Snyder and Joshua Williamson are tag-teaming on the storyline, with Snyder writing the main event and Williamson working on the undercard in titles like Superman and Knightfight. Snyder will be joined by Javi Fernandez on the main miniseries, while Dan Mora did the tournament bracket cover that reveals who is all in for the fight:

Scott Snyder, Joshua Williamson + more pit hero against hero in ‘DC K.O.’

The DC All In event series will see heroes battling in a tournament for the honor of becoming King Omega.

Now here’s something we can get behind — DC has announced DC K.O., a new event series that features DC heroes in a smash’em up brawl-for-all style tournament, with enough power to rival Darkseid as the prize.

Scott Snyder will write the five-issue series, joined by artist Javi Fernandez. Joshua Williamson, meanwhile, will serve as Snyder’s tag-team partner and write several of the tie-in titles, including a prologue called Justice League: The Omega Act.

“DC K.O. is a knock-down, drag-out fight between all your favorite DC Super Heroes in a cosmic tournament to save the universe from Darkseid,” said Snyder. “Darkseid has evolved into something bigger and stronger than ever.”

“He’s destroyed the future,” added Williamson. “There’s no future for the DC Universe because of what he’s done—the heroes’ only shot is to stop him in the present.”

DC’s Absolute villains unite in ‘Absolute Evil’ this October

See what DC has in store for the Absolute titles as they celebrate their first year.

Almost a year to the day that DC announced their “All In” publishing plans and the birth of the Absolute Universe, the publisher has revealed what October has in store for our Absolute heroes (and villains).

October of last year brought the first Absolute titles, as Absolute Batman, Absolute Wonder Woman and Absolute Superman made their way to comic shops. Those first issues went on to achieve phenomenal sales and critical acclaim, and DC continues to issue reprints for those and subsequent issues.

In a universe that’s built on putting our heroes at a disadvantage, this October will see several villains from across the Absolute Universe join forces and target the heroes. The Absolute Evil one-shot will bring that alliance to the forefront.

DC will launch an ongoing ‘Red Hood’ title in September

Gretchen Felker-Martin, Jeff Spokes and Becca Carey give Jason Todd a new mission and a new city to protect.

Every Robin is somebody’s favorite Robin, and that includes Jason Todd. The former dead Robin will return to the spotlight in a new series written by Gretchen Felker-Martin, with art by Jeff Spokes and lettering by Becca Carey. Red Hood, billed as a “17+” series, will be set in New Angelique, which is described as a “New Orleans flavored backdrop.”

“Sweat, blood, and powder burns. Broken bones and mind control. A city rotted from the inside out,” said Felker-Martin. “Jason’s going through hell on the hunt for an enigmatic telepath, and he’s taking us with him. I’m thrilled to be helming this new run of Red Hood with Jeff Spokes.”

Although it’s aimed at a more mature audience than most of DC’s regular All In series, it is set in regular DC continuity.

Greg Rucka + Nicola Scott reunite for a Justice League heist story

‘Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League’ features a group of villains targeting the Justice League Watchtower.

The Black Magick team of Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott will re-team for Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League, a heist story featuring a group of villains robbing the Justice League Watchtower.

Rucka and Scott will be joined by colorist Annette Kwok and letterer Troy Peteri on the six-issue DC All In series.

“I won’t bury the lede,” said Rucka. “This is a crew of villains, or at least nominal bad guys. Not one of them has access to—let alone would be welcomed aboard—the Justice League Watchtower. We’re not making this easy on them. But for Cheetah especially, this is an all-or-nothing play—she needs to do this job, and she’s not going to let anything, or anyone, keep her from getting what she’s after.”

Ryan North + Mike Norton team for ‘Krypto: The Last Dog of Krypton’

The bestest boy fetches a five-issue miniseries this summer.

DC’s “Summer of Superman” initiative is going to the dogs in June, as the publisher announced this week that the team of writer Ryan North and artists Mike Norton and Ian Herring will return to Krypton to tell the story of Superman’s bestest friend Krypto.

Krypto: The Last Dog of Krypton will take our heroic canine — the breakout star of the Superman trailer — from Krypton to Earth.

“Krypto’s origin has always been done at kind of a high level,” North said. “The little guy starts out on Krypton, ends up on Earth, and helps Superman fight crime. The chance to really define Krypto—to show what a little lost dog would go through if he landed all alone on a strange alien world named Earth—was really enticing. And I also fell in love with the idea of treating Krypto as the actual dog he is: he doesn’t talk, and we don’t cheat by reading his thoughts in balloons either. Mike Norton’s art captures exactly what needs to be ‘said’ in every scene. Krypto tells us who he is and how he’s feeling like all dogs do: through his expressions and behaviour, through body language and barks and snuggles and licks and sighs. Dogs are some of the most expressive animals, and we absolutely love them, and I wanted to tell a story that really captured and honoured these animals—Krypto in particular.”

DC’s 2025 Free Comic Book Day plans include ‘Superman Unlimited,’ Absolute Universe + more

The publisher has announced plans for three titles that’ll be available for the event on May 3.

Earlier today DC revealed some of their Free Comic Book Day plans when they announced Superman Unlimited, and they’ve followed that with an announcement about their full plans for 2025 — which will include three FCBD titles.

DC All In/Absolute Universe 2025 FCBD Special Edition will be a flipbook containing two stories — the previously announced “zero issue” of Superman Unlimited written by Dan Slott with art by Rafael Albuquerque and Marcelo Maiolo, and a new story set in the Absolute Universe by Absolute Flash writer Jeff Lemire, with art by Giuseppe Camuncoli and Stefano Nesi.

The other two titles will preview upcoming graphic novels — the early-reader targeted Superman’s Good Guy Gang and the middle-grade OGN Kanga-U: Tests and Tournaments.
