IDW and Hasbro bring ‘Clue’ to comics

Paul Allor and Nelson Dániel team for an “at times completely bonkers” five-issue miniseries based on the board game.

IDW’s partnership with Hasbro has brought everything from My Little Pony to Transformers to ROM and Micronauts to the publisher, and now that line of books is getting a Clue. A five-issue miniseries based on the iconic board game will debut in June.

Paul Allor and Nelson Dániel will bring Miss Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, Mrs. Peacock, Professor Plum and the rest into the pages of the comic.

“I am incredibly excited to be working on this project, especially with an artist as talented as Nelson Dániel,” Allor said in a press release. “In the grand tradition of the Clue franchise, we’re crafting a fun, exciting and at times completely bonkers story that will keep people guessing until the very end! I truly can’t wait for comics readers to step into the mansion and find out just what we have in store for them.”

The release describes it as a comedy and mystery where “readers will have to follow the clues to solve the mystery.” They’re also planning for multiple endings, kind of like the Clue film from the 1980s:

Depending on which variant cover comic book sleuths pick up, a unique conclusion unfolds. Is it a clue, or a red herring? Readers can collect all the variants (and clues), as well as the main cover by Eisner award-winning artist Gabriel Rodriguez, this June to find out!

Gotta say, Rodriguez is the perfect guy to draw a Clue cover:
