DC Comics has announced the winner of their Round Robin tournament, which asks fans to vote on which pitch should become a series, and it’s not surprising to see that Robins by Tim Seeley and Baldemar Rivas came out on top.
Robins #1, the first of a six-issue miniseries, will arrive in November. But if you are a DC Universe Infinite subscriber, you’ll get to see it on Oct. 26.
Here’s the official description from DC: ROBINS #1, written by Tim Seeley (GRAYSON, SUICIDE SQUAD: KING SHARK), with art by Baldemar Rivas (UNEARTH), peels back the domino mask on the realities and costs of being a Robin. Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, and Damian Wayne come together in the world’s most specific support group to finally talk about whether being a Robin was a good idea… but they can’t even do that without being ambushed. As an unknown assailant claims to have been the first Robin, the flock of Robins must figure out who she is, and what it means to be a Robin.
DC kicked off their Round Robin tournament back in April with descriptions of 16 pitches from creators for new titles. Fans could then vote on social media and in the DC Universe Infinity Community message boards as the pitch faced off in a bracketed tournament. Robins quickly became one of the overall favorites, and faced off against Suicide Squad Seven in the finals.
With luck, some of these other pitches will move forward as well; JLQ proved to be very popular in the first round of voting, and I’d still like to see that Paws Off the Justice League comic.
