DC FanDome returns Oct. 16

The event will once again showcase DC’s comics, movies, TV series and more.

As announced back in May, DC FanDome will return on Oct. 16 with another day filled with movie trailers, TV previews, video game reveals, comic panels and more

Last year’s event was spread across two days, but this year so far DC has only announced content for Oct. 16. Last year’s event was also a lot of fun, bringing announcements and teasers about the Milestone relaunch, The Next Batman, the Rorschach series and more. This year’s agenda looks to be equally as packed.

On the comics side, DC will spotlight their plans for Wonder Woman, specifically the upcoming titles Wonder Woman Historia, Nubia and the Amazons and Wonderful Women of the World. They also will share more details on the Batman/Fortnite comic crossover sequel, and talk about the upcoming Batman: Fear State, Black Manta, the Milestone Universe and more.

Take a look below for the full line-up of what’s announced; no doubt there will be some surprises and breaking news as well:

Nominees announced for the 2021 Ignatz Awards

The annual Ignatz Awards celebrate outstanding achievement in independent comics and cartooning.

The Small Press Expo, or SPX, has announced the nominees for the 2021 Ignatz Awards.

The Ignatz Awards, which have been handed out since 1997, celebrate the outstanding achievements of independent comics, graphic novels and alternative political cartoons. Named for the mouse that appears in the Krazy Kat comics by George Herriman, the logo changes each as a new artist draws the mouse and his weapon of choice, the brick. This year’s logo, seen above, is by Theo Stultz.

Nominees were determined by a jury that included Sunmi, Daniel Elkin and Nguyên Khôi Nguyễn. Anyone can vote on the winners, and SPX has said more details on the process will be shared soon.

Congratulations to all the nominees:

Jeff Lemire joins the Substack Revolution, will syndicate ‘Fishflies’ through the service

Subscribers will also receive access to new Black Hammer stories.

Jeff Lemire is the latest creator to announce he will move his online newsletter to the Substack premium model, with plans to post comics and more through the service.

As part of his premium service, he plans to begin posting his next big project. Fishflies, through Substack, along with short stories set in the world of Black Hammer.

“I don’t even know what to call it really, ‘newsletter’ seems much too limiting for what I hope to do on this platform,” Lemire wrote in his, er, newsletter. “My intention here is to create something akin to an online studio; a new platform to publish new comics and a meeting place to share all my work in progress with you and also offer lots of exclusive new material. I want to create a direct link between me and my readers. So, this will be a place that I can share each step of my creative process with you and a platform to actually create and publish new comics too.”
