‘Young Men in Love,’ ‘Poison Ivy’ win GLAAD awards

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation recognized comics from DC and A Wave Blue World in their 34th annual Media Awards.

Poison Ivy and Young Men in Love were honored by The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, or GLAAD, as winners in their 34th annual Media Awards.

Poison Ivy by G. Willow Wilson, Marcio Takara, Atagun Ilhan, Brian Level, Stefano Gaudiano, Jay Leisten, Arif Prianto, Ivan Plascencia and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, took home the award for Outstanding Comic Book. The DC title was up against nine other comic series in the category.

The series, which features stunning covers by Jessica Fong, started out as a miniseries but was recently upgraded to an ongoing.

In the Outstanding Original Graphic Novel/Anthology category, Young Men in Love from A Wave Blue World took home the award. The anthology was edited by Joe Glass and Matt Miner.

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, or GLAAD, annually recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBTQ community and the issues that affect their lives. 10 comics and 10 graphic novels were nominated in the “Outstanding Comic Book” and ‘Outstanding Original Graphic Novel/Anthology” categories this year.
