Although the first issue hasn’t even hit stands yet, Dark Horse has already announced a second printing for the first issue of The Oddly Pedestrian Life Of Christopher Chaos. Also, the miniseries is now an ongoing series.
The comic by James Tynion IV, Tate Brombal and Isaac Goodhart first debuted on Substack last year, and a deal with Dark Horse to bring it to print was announced in November.
“Christopher Chaos means a lot to me,” Tynion said in his Substack newsletter. “I’m immensely proud of the work Tate, Isaac, Miquel, Nick, and Aditya have done building it all out. You’ve seen early version of the work here on Substack (though we’ve made some changes to the print addition, namely bringing on Miquel Muerto as the new series colorist starting with Issue #1), but the most fun here has been talking about the world that surrounds Christopher, and Adam, and Jordi, and the Helwing Corps. We have lots of stories we want to tell, and your support will help make that happen.”
Here’s how Dark Horse describes the teen LGBTQ+ horror title:
Meet teenage mad scientist Christopher Chaos. For all his life he knew he was different. His brilliant mind works in ways that defy logic and enable him to do things that push him beyond his peers. Unfortunately, these abilities have also caused great pain in his personal life—leading others to fear him and leaving Christopher with profound loneliness and guilt.
Then, one day, something cracks. When the cute boy at high school turns out to be a deadly creature, Christopher finds himself pitted in a world of monsters, heroes, and a cult of hunters out to kill them all.
“James and I developed an entire world and history for Christopher Chaos that is filled with monsters and mad science going back centuries… Now, due to such an overwhelming response from readers, we have the expanded scope necessary to explore it in its entirety! Thank you so much to everyone that’s supported this odd book, and get ready to spend the next few years alongside Christopher and the monsters he picks up along the way,” said Brombal.
The first printing of the first issue will arrive in stores June 21, with the second printing following on July 26 with a variant cover.
