Random House Graphic will publish a series of graphic novels featuring Dr. Seuss characters, starting with the Cat in the Hat next year.
Cat Out of Water by Art Baltazar (Tiny Titans) will arrive in stores next April, followed by a Grinch story by Kaeti Vandorn (Monster Friends) next fall and a Green Eggs and Ham spinoff by James Kochalka (Super F*ckers) in 2025.
“Chapter book graphic novels are one of the fastest-growing categories in the industry, and we are absolutely over the moon to bring Dr. Seuss’s iconic characters to life in a new way that will not only excite kids, but also get more kids reading,” said Whitney Leopard with Random House Graphic. “It is an honor to work with the lineup of comic book creators we have with Art, James and Kaeti, and I can’t wait for kids to get their hands on these new Dr. Seuss adventures.”
Baltazar and Kochalka will appear at New York Comic Con this week to promote the endeavor, along with character appearances by the Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2.
