Sunday Comics | Let’s ‘Runaway to the Stars’

Check out webcomics by Jay Eaton, Joe Poland, Nicholas Gurewitch, Campbell Whyte and more.

Here’s a round up of some of the best and most interesting comics we’ve seen online recently. If we missed something, let us know in the comments below.

Jay Eaton has been working on Runaway to the Stars for quite awhile now, posting pages on Patreon and Tumblr, but now they’ve gone and gotten a shiny new comics website.

Runaway to the Stars is a worldbuilding project that I’ve been working on for over a decade,” Eaton said. “It started as an excuse to design some aliens and throw all my science fiction thoughts in the same vat, and eventually a book started to grow out of it like a fungus. If this comic intrigues you, there’s tons of additional artwork, writing and short comics that can be found on my perpetual work-in-progress Neocities website and my ancient tumblr blog. There is quite a rabbit hole to go down, if you don’t mind some bespoke coding jank.”

The comic will eventually be published by iron Circus Comics, but for now you can read it on the web. And after that, why not check out their online store for more comics, zines and other fun stuff.

Speaking of “ancient Tumblr blogs,” I recently crawled out from under a rock and discovered My Dad is Dracula, a four-panel comic by Jason Poland that features an “and” in each episode that really makes the strip. The content on Tumblr goes back for years, so if you’re like me, you have a lot to catch up on. Some of the strips can also be bought in print from Poland’s online store.

Best known as the genius behind The Perry Bible Fellowship, Nicholas Gurewitch posted a longer-then-usual comic recently titled “I Got Hacked,” which details his experiences with having his phone hacked and losing access to the PBF Facebook account (which is now showing random monetizing videos). That really sucks, so now might be a good time to purchase his digital comic Trauma Trooper.

I was pleased to see that Campbell Whyte has updated his website with a whole bunch of “small comics” from various anthologies and the like that he’s contributed. to. You can find them all here.

Finally, let’s end this edition with a lightning round, and several comics I’ve been digging on Twitter. Starting with this one by @flopscomics:

Some Odd Hustle by Cody Collins:

Bruce MCorkindale:

And Joe Latham:
