DC’s Next Level panel yesterday at the San Diego Comic Con was the gift that kept on giving. Not only did they finally officially announce titles featuring Jonah Hex and The Demon, but they also announced three more titles — one we knew was coming, and two we didn’t.
First up is Shadow of the Bat, which has been teased but we weren’t aware of the creative team until this weekend. And what a creative team it is — Deniz Camp and Javier Rodríguez, the team behind the recently wrapped Absolute Martian Manhunter and the big winners at last night’s Eisner Awards.
“We’re going to try to do some new things with Batman. I hope you’ll join us,” Camp said on social media.
On the surprise front, DC announced that Vixen would get her an ongoing series, courtesy of Eisner nominee Stephanie Williams and legendary artist Khary Randolph. The character first debuted in 1981 and has had miniseries, specials and been part of several super teams, but this will be her first ongoing.
“It’s Mari telling people who she is instead of everyone assuming,” Williams said at the panel.

Finally, the Milestone character Static, who will be joining the Titans, is also returning to his own ongoing series. Miles Morales writer Cody Ziglar will team with JSA artist Diego Olortegui on the title.
“We’re dusting off the cobwebs,” Ziglar said. “He’s reintroducing himself to the superhero world.”
Introduced in 1993 as part of the Milestone Media line, Virgil Hawkins starred in his own solo series, an animated TV show and eventually found his way to the DC Universe as part of the New 52 era.
No release dates have been revealed for the three titles yet.
