AfterShock officially announces ‘We Live’ sequel ‘Age of the Palladions’

The new series launches next March with two different first issues.

Brothers Inaki and Roy Miranda will return to the universe they created in the hit miniseries We Live next year, as the Age of the Palladions picks up six years after the original series.

AfterShock will actually release two version of the first issue, a “Black” version and a “White” version, with their own distinct previews and slightly different synopses.

“The story begins six years after the appearance of the Palladions in Megalopolis 9,” Co-writer Roy Miranda said. “After an ephemeral time of prosperity, the city faces a new critical situation.We are in the middle of a very delicate moment where a decision will have to be made for the survival of the population. It’s a story that deepens in the concept of heroism; a kind of heroism that few can assume when it needs to be built from a place of defeat.The readers that have followed us since the first arc will see how the universe of We Live has grown along with the characters. Especially our main characters, who have grown physically, but mostly psychologically.”

Kieron Gillen + Lucas Werneck convene for ‘Immortal X-Men’

The new title will focus on Krakoa’s Quiet Council ‘with all its muffled screams.’

The Quiet Council is about to get a whole lot louder, as the rulers of Krakoa will take the spotlight in Immortal X-Men, a new series coming from Kieron Gillen and Lucas Werneck next year. It’s part of Marvel’s Destiny of X line of titles, the fancy moniker they’re giving to the next era of X-Men titles.

Gillen returns to the X-Men titles after several years of playing in the Star Wars and creator-owned sandboxes, co-creating titles like Once and Future, Die and The Ludocrats in recent years. Werneck, meanwhile, is fresh off of the Trial of Magneto miniseries.

Gillen talked about the new title (and poked fun at departing Krakoan architect Jonathan Hickman) in a recent newsletter:

“Obviously, I was delighted when I heard that Jon was leaving the X-office, due to our ancient rivalry,” Gillen said in his newsletter. “It’s a complicated story, and involves several duels, all of which I lost. Suffice to say, I have sworn to never enter any office where he is present. When news reached me he was leaving, I realised it was time to sneak in the back door. For a good month or two, I was lurking around pretending to be Jonathan. I donned a disguise (a wig, a different accent, a series of gnomic diagrams as my zoom background) and sort of hung around, making pronouncements. I have since learned everyone realised it was me immediately, but felt so bad for me they decided I could stay.”

Soule + Browne will launch ‘Eight Billion Genies’ next year

The eight-issue miniseries will begin in May.

Ryan Browne has announced his next collaboration with writer Charles Soule: Eight Billion Genies, a story about everyone Earth getting a genie — and a wish.

“At exactly the same moment, everyone on Earth gets a genie, and one wish. What happens next? How would that be anything other than total chaos? Why would Ryan and Charles write a story about something so audacious and boundary-breaking?” Browne posted on Instagram. “Because we can, friends. Because we can. COMICS, BABY!”

The next X-Men era, Destiny of X, kicks off in the spring

Following ‘Inferno” and January’s dual Wolverine miniseries comes ‘The Second Krakoan Age of X-Men.’

Marvel has put a name to what they’re referring to as “The Second Krakoan Age of X-Men”: Destiny of X. This new era of X-comics will feature several new titles, creative team changes and “revolutionary status quo changes” for the few remaining titles in the X-line-up.

“The journey of the Krakoan Age is far from over!” Senior Editor Jordan D. White told Marvel.com. “Our long-term plan that all our creators have been working on in our secret Council Chamber has only just begun to come to fruition. With the filling of the two empty council seats, the Reign of X has ended, and it’s time for mutantkind to reach for their destiny!”

Marvel shared some teaser art by Leini Francis Yu and Sunny Gho, which also lists the titles you can expect to see next year:

The Bloodstone family adds a member in their ‘Death of Doctor Strange’ tie-in

Lyra Bloodstone will join her siblings Elsa and Cullen to battle the forces of evil this January.

Next month The Death of Doctor Strange miniseries wraps up, revealing the identity of his murderer. But January also brings the final tie-in one-shot to for the event series, Death of Doctor Strange: Bloodstone, which puts the spotlight on the monster-hunting Bloodstone family.

The one-shot is by Tini Howard and artist Ig Guara, and introduces a new member to the family.

Notable among this family are Ulysses Bloodstone, the once-immortal, now deceased father who first appeared in Marvel Presents back in 1975; his daughter Elsa Bloodstone, who was introduced in 2001 and later appeared in Nextwave and Fearless Defenders; and her younger brother Cullen Bloodstone, who debuted in Avengers Arena and can transform into a monster called a Glartrox.

And come January, Marvel will introduce their long-lost sister Lyra Bloodstone, whose “unique Blood gem” gives her awesome powers and makes her a target.

Saladin Ahmed posted the first pages of TerrorWar this week, the comic he first announced when he launched the paid version of his Substack newsletter. Drawn by Dave Acosta and Jay Leisten, the comic is about a city where people’s worst fears have come to life somehow, and the terrorfighters who face them with really big guns.

Lemire + Nguyen unleash ‘Little Monsters’ in March

The creators of ‘Descender’ re-team for a story about vampire children at the end of the world.

Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen blasted off for new worlds in the pages of Descender and Ascender, but now they’re returning to this world for a new post-apocalyptic ongoing about vampires at the end of the world.

Little Monsters will debut from Image Comics next March.

“Little Monsters is a real departure from the space-opera and sci-fi of Descender,” Lemire said in his Substack newsletter. ” Much more grounded and character-driven, this new series will follow a group of child vampires who have outlived humanity and now live in the decaying husk of Los Angeles, lost in an endless wonderland of innocent childhood games and dramas. But their paradise is soon shattered, and their innocence put to the test, when unforeseen events force them to reconcile with their pasts, and with each other.”

Fund Me Tuesday | ‘Foulbrood’ by Christopher Sebela and Claire Roe

Help fund a comic about crime and beekeeping.

If you’re looking to back a Kickstarter project with (no, don’t say it) literal buzz (ugh, I said it), then check out Foulbrood, a new comic by Christopher Sebela (.Self, Crowded, Dead Dudes) and Claire Roe (Darkhold: Wasp, Bury the Lede).

The duo previously worked together on the queer reincarnation thriller We(l)come Back, and this time around they’re telling a crime story set in the world of beekeeping — if my cheesy lede didn’t spell that out for you.

Their campaign is to fund the first two issues of a six-issue series. They’re looking for $15,000 to bring them to print, and you’ve got until Dec. 11 to help them avoid the sting that comes with not getting funded.

Momoko’s ‘Demon Days’ arc ends with ‘Blood Feud’

The last chapter of Peach Momoko’s story that re-imagines the Marvel Universe will arrive in March, followed by a trade paperback collection in April.

Since March, Marvel has published a series of connected one-shots written and drawn by Peach Momoko, as she re-imagined several Marvel characters through the lens of Japanese folklore. Next March, Momoko will wrap up the story she’s been telling with Demon Days: Blood Feud, which will “will tie up the current arc in the ‘Momoko-verse’ as Mariko Yashida’s mesmerizing adventure comes to an end.”

Blood Feud will pit Mariko against her sister, a silver-clad swordswoman named Ogin — who is also the Momoko-verse version of Silver Samurai.

“This was my first time writing and painting a long-term story and honestly I was a bit scared! But in the end I feel very proud to be able to create five issues in the span of a year and a few months,” Momoko told Marvel.com. “I hope everyone reading Demon Days sees my growth and experience leveling up in every issue. And I will continue to grow and hope one day to leave an important mark for everyone to see!”

Ho Che Anderson says ‘Luke Cage: City of Fire’ has been cancelled

The Devil’s Reign tie-in comic was supposed to debut in December.

The writer of the Luke Cage: City of Fire miniseries has said that Marvel has cancelled the series before its debut.

Ho Che Anderson posted last week that the Devil’s Reign tie-in miniseries, which was set to kick off on Dec. 29, is “dead in the water.”

“No easy way to say this,” Anderson said on Instagram. “I got the word Luke Cage got cancelled this morning, one month away from its premiere. The scripts are all written. The first issue is done and is a thing of absolute beauty. Issues 2 and 3 are deep into production. Covers have been drawn. People have gotten excited, and with good reason as far as I’m concerned. I remain as proud of this as any work I’ve ever done. Maybe someday it will be seen. But as of today this comic is dead in the water. If you want answers I am not the man to ask. My heart is broken. I’m taking a social media break to lick my wounds. Somewhere god is having a chuckle.”

Image Comics announces ‘Razorblades: Small Cuts Special’

The one-shot will collect all of Tynion’s stories from his ‘Razorblades’ horror anthology.

Image Comics will release Razorblades: Small Cuts Special, next April, collecting several horror stories by James Tynion IV and multiple collaborators that first appeared in his Razorblades horror anthology.

James Tynion IV launched Razorblades last year during the pandemic and sold issues through his website, bringing together comics, prose, pin-ups and more for a pay-what-you-want digital anthology by a variety of creators. Image Comics has already announced a hardcover collection of material from the anthology, which will run about 400 pages.

The one-shot is geared to folks who just want Tynion’s stories, which will feature artwork by Martin Simmonds and Josh Hixson, among others. It’ll also feature the print debut of Killboy, who Tynion once referred to as the book’s mascot. Killboy was co-created by Ricardo Lopez Ortiz and will appear on the book’s cover:
