Oni Press announces Katie O’Neill’s ‘Dewdrop’ for early 2020

The creator of ‘The Tea Dragon Society’ returns with a new graphic novel aimed at younger readers.

The creator of the award-winning The Tea Dragon Society will return with a new graphic novel, Dewdrop, in 2020.

Katie O’Neill announced the young reader’s project during the Oni Press panel at Comic-Con International this past weekend.

“I’m so happy to be creating a book for younger readers, especially one with themes of mindfulness and self-fulfillment,” Katie O’Neill said. “I hope the ideas in Dewdrop will sew seeds that may stay with children in some small way, and eventually grow when they need them most. It’s also a real honor to help with starting kids reading in any way I can, so I am very excited for them to meet Dewdrop and his friends!”

Sharing is caring: ‘Care Bears’ coming from IDW this July

New series by Agnes Garbowska, Matthew Erman and Nadia Shammas debuts in July.

IDW has picked up another kid-friendly comic license. At WonderCon this weekend, they announced a new Care Bears series by Agnes Garbowska, Matthew Erman and Nadia Shammas, set to debut in July.

“I am extremely excited to be working on Care Bears since it was such a huge part of my childhood and impacted me greatly. I hope the series brings the same love and joy to new fans as it did for me,” Garbowska said in the press release.

IDW to publish ‘Spider-Man,’ ‘Avengers,’ ‘Black Panther’ series aimed at younger readers

Marvel and IDW team up to ‘develop middle-grade comic books designed for younger readers.’

I guess this shouldn’t come as a shock, given how Disney has licensed IDW to create Big Hero 6 and Star Wars comics aimed at younger readers, but still, that headline …

IDW and Marvel announced today that they “will develop middle-grade comic books designed for younger readers. Featuring some of Marvel’s most popular characters, the monthly issues and trade paperback collections, published by IDW, will be available for sale at local comic book shops and book retailers across the country, expanding opportunities for the next generation of Super Heroes to experience the Marvel Universe.”
