‘Marvel’s Voices: Avengers’ anthology assembles in December

Robbie Thompson, Sid Kotian, Justina Ireland and more will tell stories featuring Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Marvel’s next “Voices” anthology will spotlight members of the Avengers, bringing together a diverse group of talent to tell stories featuring Captain America, Photon, Robbie Reyes and more.

The anthology series, which originated from a podcast on Marvel.com with the same name, has been published since 2020. It spotlights “diverse storytellers and their journeys,” as well as characters from diverse backgrounds. This year Marvel began spotlighting specific character groups, like the Spider-Verse characters, the X-Men and the citizens of Wakanda, in stories by diverse creators.

Punk rock Storm flies again in a new miniseries

Ann Nocenti and Sid Kotian team up for a story set in the X-Men’s past.

Ann Nocenti, a former editor of Marvel’s Uncanny X-Men title, will return to the characters in May, this time as a writer. Nocenti will team with artist Sid Kotian for a new miniseries featuring Storm.

The miniseries will pit the mohawk-wearing leader of the X-Men against a new threat.

“I joke about how cool it is that Marvel ‘brings back us old timers to sing our greatest hits’ for the Legends series, but it truly is an honor and a joy,” Nocenti said. “When Editors Mark Basso and Drew Baumgartner then asked me to write a story with ‘punk’ Storm, I wanted the story to reflect her outfit. I thought about punk musicians like Iggy Pop and the Sex Pistols, and their apocryphal rebellious attitude. So it was exciting to start from there, and think, ‘What would Storm rebel against?’ Her own powers? The X-Men? Being Team leader?”

Marvel revives the Forgiven for a mini-event by Tim Seeley and Sid Kotian next year

The team, which first appeared during ‘Fear Itself,’ will team with Spider-Man, the X-Men and the Avengers across three one-shots.

Marvel is reviving an obscure team of superhero vampires that first appeared during the 2011 event Fear Itself for a mini-event that will be published next year.

Spider-Man: Unforgiven will kick things off, by Tim Seeley and Sid Kotian. Mini-events, as we’ve taken to describing them, are a series of connected one-shots that typically feature a similar theme or hero. In the past they might have been miniseries, but Marvel has brilliantly come up with a way to ensure every issue has a #1 on it.

The three-part Unforgiven will kick off with the Spider-Man issue, to be followed by one-shots featuring the X-Men and the Avengers teaming up with The Forgiven. They first appeared in the Fear Itself: Hulk vs. Dracula miniseries by Victor Gischler and Ryan Stegman.

“I love Marvel super heroes, no doubt, but I’ve got a special obsession with Marvel’s horror heroes,” Seeley told Marvel.com. “Unforgiven gives that creepy, sexy, weird underbelly a chance to shine as a horrific conspiracy unites a crew of vampires with Spider-Man, the X-Men and Captain America, and shows us the stark differences (and surprisingly similarities) of those who are gifted with the ability to fight evil, and those who have to carry evil’s curse. By the end of this epic event, we’ll have toured a lot of dark corners of the Marvel Universe, and reminded readers that monsters are at its shrunken black heart!”

Chris Claremont returns to Marvel to write ‘Gambit’ next year

The legendary X-Men scribe will team with artist Sid Kotian on the new series.

Legendary X-Men writer Chris Claremont will return to Marvel next year for a new series starring Gambit.

Claremont will team with artist Sid Kotian, creator of Beneath an Alien Sky on Webtoon, while former X-Men artist Whilce Portacio provides what I assume is a cover:
