‘The Inhabitant of the Lake’ wins the Bram Stoker Award, plus nominations for the Graphic Medicine International Collective Award, Locus Awards and more.

It’s awards season, so today seems like a good day for a quick awards round-up post. Here we go …

The Horror Writers Association has announced the winners of the 2022 Bram Stoker Awards. In the graphic novel category Alessandro Manzetti and Stefano Cardoselli’s The Inhabitant of the Lake, published by Independent Legions Publishing, won the award, beating out what started as a large and very competitive field.

Huizenga, Harkham and more contribute to New York Times Magazine’s all-comics issue

Tillie Walden, Francesco Francavilla, David Mazzuchelli, Tom Gauld help turn New York news stories into compelling comics.

The New York Times Magazine has posted their very first all-comics issue, which features cartoonists turning stories that came through the NYT Metro desk into comic strips.

Tom Gauld, Sammy Harkham, Tillie Walden, Francesco Francavilla, David Mazzuchelli and several others contributed strips, while Kevin Huizenga provided the introductory strip that explains the concept. You can view all the strips by going here.

Watch the trailer for Tom Gauld’s ‘Mooncop’

A cop hunts for a lost dog on the moon in the new graphic novel from Drawn & Quarterly.

Drawn & Quarterly’s 2016 Free Comic Book Day offering sent Tom Gauld’s Mooncop to the top of my “most anticipated fall releases” list, and as of now we’re only a week away before it drops. With that in mind, here are a couple of items to whet the appetite. First, our old friend Graeme McMillan spoke with Gauld for Wired and shared five reasons Mooncop will be your new favorite graphic novel.
