Fantagraphics to collect Michel Fiffe’s ‘Zegas’

One of the first projects by the creator of ‘Copra’ returns in a new collection this November.

Before Copra came Michel Fiffe’s Zegas, the title that started his self-publishing operation, Copra Press, back in 2011. Fiffe sold single issues of the title through his Etsy store, but they’re long gone at this point, so it’s good news then that “all the out-of-print stories previously lost to the ages” will be collected by Fantagraphics this November.

Per the publisher, “Zegas details the surreal urban adventures of the recently orphaned Zegas siblings. The ambitious Emily and her moody brother, Boston, are young adults who confront their new relationship dynamic in the face of a family tragedy that never gets talked about. The world of Zegas is set in a hyperstylized landscape, but the down-to-earth characters and their conflicts are what anchor the story. At its core, Zegas is a collection of interactions that map out Emily and Boston’s most primal concerns: survival, sex, and mortality. This is the first graphic novel for Fantagraphics by the popular creator and self-publisher of the ongoing comic book series Copra.”

This is great news for any Fiffe fans who missed out on the original comics, or Copra readers who would like to see more from one of comics’ most exciting creators. In addition to the Fantagraphics site, the book can also be pre-ordered on Amazon or comiXology for digital comics fans.
