Dynamite Entertainment is taking Supernatural in a new direction this fall, launching the first pair of interconnected solo comic series starring Sam and Dean Winchester.
The new approach begins in September with Supernatural: Wayward, a one-shot by Paulina Ganucheau and John Amor that separates the Winchester brothers before spinning them into their own ongoing adventures in October.
According to Dynamite, Wayward finds Sam and Dean facing forces powerful enough to drive them onto separate paths, setting the stage for two parallel series that will follow the brothers as they investigate mysteries in different parts of the country.

Dean’s adventure comes courtesy of Aquamen writer Chuck Brown and Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living artist Rapha Lobosco. Supernatural: Dean Winchester sends the elder brother to the streets of New Orleans during Mardi Gras, where he takes on an unsolved case from his father’s past that may require him to kill a god.
“I’ve been a fan of Supernatural since day one,” Brown said. “Writing Dean is going to be wild as he revisits his past case down south.”

Meanwhile, Ganucheau continues shepherding the Sam’s adventures with Supernatural: Sam Winchester, joined by The Terminator artist Kendall Goode. After doing something to Dean “he can never take back,” Sam is lured to an abandoned Appalachian town, where mysterious phone calls and ancient eldritch horrors await.
“Supernatural is something that is a part of my DNA,” Ganucheau said. “So getting this opportunity is a treasure. I can’t wait to take readers and Sam along on an isolatingly perilous journey of tears and horrors.”

The publisher says the two titles are designed to be read together, with each series telling one half of a larger story before eventually bringing the brothers back together.
Supernatural: Dean Winchester will feature covers by Marguerite Sauvage and Rapha Lobosco, along with photo covers. Ganucheau and Goode will provide covers for Supernatural: Sam Winchester, which will also have photo variants. Both series will include Dynamite’s mystery blind bag editions featuring exclusive variants.

Both series will kick off in October.
