Slugfest is a roundup of cool announcements about projects coming to a shelf near you. This edition focuses on DC’s October titles. Hit the links for more info.
DC’s October solicitations came out during the Sam Diego Comic-Con, and I’ve been negligent and in doing this monthly round-up of the new stuff and highlights they contain. So, forgive me — I blame the con! And actually you’d think that after SDCC and all the news DC dropped that there wouldn’t be much to talk about, but don’t worry — there’s plenty, beyond even the stuff I already covered, like the new Demon and Jonah Hex titles.
Let’s start with one that was mentioned at SDCC, but the solicits give us a bit more info on it …
DC All In Saga: Darkseid vs. the World #1

Scott Snyder and Joshua Williamson team with artists Sanford Greene and Yasmine Putri for another big chapter in DC’s All In initiative. The oversized one-shot DC All In Saga: Darkseid vs. the World #1 promises to reveal the hidden past of Uxas, charting his transformation into Darkseid while exploring the villain’s ultimate plans for the DC Universe.
Including Pre-Teen Darkseid, as you can see on Greene’s cover. And man, let me tell you, I would be super excited to see a cute little Baby Darkseid running around in this, y’know? All cute and cuddly and … probably scary as hell.

Variant covers come from Mark Spears, Javi Fernández and Anthony Marques. DC All In Saga: Darkseid vs. the World #1 arrives Oct. 28.
Justice League: Dark Realm Special #1

Artist Dan Mora steps into the writer’s chair for the first time at DC, writing and illustrating Justice League: Dark Realm Special #1. The oversized special reveals the untold origin of Cadejos, the fire-breathing, wolf-like hero introduced as part of Justice League Unlimited, while expanding the supernatural corners of the DC universe.
Blending folklore with superhero action, the special explores Cadejos’ transformation from legendary guardian to Justice League powerhouse as barriers between dimensions begin to crumble.

Mora provides the main cover. Variant covers are by Juan Ferreyra, Ariel Olivetti and Serg Acuña, with a foil variant by Daniel Bayliss. Justice League: Dark Realm Special #1 arrives Oct. 28.
Batman: Bad Seeds – Streets of Gotham #1

Matt Fraction and Mariko Tamaki join artists Brian Ching, Gretel Lusky, Steve Lieber and others for this anthology set during DC’s Batman: Bad Seeds event. While the crossover runs through the core Batman titles in October, this one-shot shifts the spotlight away from Gotham’s heroes to focus on the ordinary citizens caught in Poison Ivy’s citywide superbloom.

Javi Fernández provides the main cover, with variant covers by Dustin Nguyen, Javier Rodríguez and Kyuyong Eom. Batman: Bad Seeds – Streets of Gotham #1 goes on sale Oct. 7.
Batman: Bad Seeds – Sunrise #1

Then Bad Seed comes to an end the last week of October. Matt Fraction, G. Willow Wilson, Giuseppe Camuncoli and Cliff Rathburn present the oversized finale to the crossover, as Batman and his allies face one last desperate race against the sunrise to save Gotham from Poison Ivy’s prehistoric nightmare.

Camuncoli provides the main cover, while variant covers come from Dan Mora, Marcio Takara, Stjepan Šejić and Matteo Scalera, who provides a glow-in-the-dark variant cover.
Batman: Bad Seeds – Sunrise #1 arrives Oct. 28.
Superman: The Wedding Album 30th Anniversary Special

Superman and Lois have been married for 30 years now, with their marriage somehow surviving multiple retcons and reboots (take that, Spider-Man!) In this special, Dan Jurgens, Rainbow Rowell, Louise Simonson, Karl Kesel, Jerry Ordway, Cian Tormey, Jon Bogdanove, Tom Grummett and more celebrate the milestone.
The oversized anniversary special follows Jon Kent as he secretly plans a celebration for his parents, while fifth-dimensional mischief and super-villains threaten to derail the festivities.
Superman: The Wedding Album 30th Anniversary Special goes on sale Oct. 28.
