Get a better look at the characters from ‘G.O.D.S.’

Several variant covers arriving in August offer a look at the cast of the new series coming from Jonathan Hickman and Valerio Schiti.

A series of variant covers released by Marvel gives us our first good look at the characters who will appear in the upcoming G.O.D.S. by Jonathan Hickman and Valerio Schiti.

The upcoming series, which will launch sometime in the fall, was previewed on Free Comic Book Day, where we got out first look at a character named Wyn. But the variant covers, all of which will land in August, reveal several more characters interacting with some old favorites from the Marvel U.

“When I came back to Marvel a few years ago, I wrote two series bibles. The first was House of X and the other one was G.O.D.S.,” Hickman said back in March. “To say that I’m excited to finally be able to share this story with everyone is a massive understatement. G.O.D.S. takes place in its own special corner of the Marvel Universe — in the cracks that lie at the intersection of science and magic — and revisits some characters and concepts that we’ve reimagined for a more modern, continuity-driven audience.”

Here’s a look at the covers:

Wyn appears on a variant cover for Doctor Strange #6 by Ema Lupacchino; he’s the character we saw on FCBD and he’s decribed as “a powerful magic expert who’s operated in secret for thousands of years and is now forced to come out of the shadows.”

Aiko Maki is “a high-ranking agent brutally loyal to the ways of science and willing to do anything to keep the building blocks of creation in balance.” She appears on this variant cover for Venom #24 by Jan Bazaldua.

Dmitri the Science Boy, “Wyn’s reckless partner who has a secret mission of his own to discover the dark truth of his past,” will appear on two covers — Moon Knight #26 by Salvador Larroca and Immortal Thor #1 by Bryan Hitch.

Mia the Magic Girl, a young sorcerer “struggling to achieve her full potential,” also appears on two covers, for Guardians of the Galaxy #5 by Todd Nauck and Uncanny Avengers #1 by Greg Land.

Finally, Cubisk Core, “a mysterious being of pure corruption seeking to shatter the existing systems,” teams up with Doctor Doom on the cover for Fantastic Four #10 by Giuseppe Camuncoli.

Each of the comics featuring the G.O.D.S. varaint covers will also include a bonus story page written by Hickman that explores “how these characters move throughout the Marvel Universe.” Some of them will also appear in the upcoming X-Men: Hellfire Gala special, which arrives July 26.
