Welcome to Can’t Wait for Comics Wednesday, your guide to what comics are arriving in comic book stores, bookstores and on digital.

I’ve pulled out some of the highlights below, but for the complete list of everything you might find at your local comic shop and on digital this week, you’ll want to check out one or more of the following:

As a reminder, things can change and what you find on the above lists may differ from what’s actually arriving in your local shop. So always check with your comics retailer for the final word on availability.

Helen of Wyndhorn #1 (Dark Horse, $4.99): The award-winning Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow team reunites for a new miniseries about the daughter of a deceased pulp fiction writer who finds out her father’s creations live in the woods outside his house. Tom King, Bilquis Evely, Matheus Lopes and Clayton Cowles present a story King describes as “Wuthering Heights meets Conan.”

Batman/Dylan Dog #1 (DC, $4.99): Roberto Recchioni, Gigi Cavenago and Werther Dell Edera bring together two comic book icons, as Batman teams with Italian horror comics star Dylan Dog to face the Joker and Professor Xabaras.

Black Widow and Hawkeye #1 (Marvel, $4.99): Hawkeye and Black Widow both turn 60 this year, as they debuted in the pages of Tales of Suspense back in 1964. This four-issue miniseries by Stephanie Phillips and Paolo Villanelli celebrates that milestone as the two heroes come together to clear an accused Hawkeye of an assassination attempt that puts the U.S. and Madripoor at odds.

I Heart Skull-Crusher #1 (BOOM! Studios, $4.99): Josie Campbell and Alessio Zonno team for this new series from BOOM! Studios’ BOOM! Box imprint, which is about an aspiring player of Screaming Pain Ball, the most popular sport in post-apocalyptic America, and her journey to becoming just like her favorite pro, Skull-Crusher.

Napalm Lullaby #1 (Image Comics, $4.99): Death or Glory creators Rick Remender and Bengal are back together for this high-octane superhero story about the bastard children of a theocratic ruler who want revenge against their father.

Wrong Earth: Dead Ringers #1 (Ahoy, $3.99): Tom Peyer and Juan Castro return to the worlds of Wrong Earth as the grim ‘n’ gritty Dragonfly finds himself stuck on the campy world of his multiversal counterpart, Dragonflyman.

Suicide Squad: Dream Team #1 (DC, $3.99): Nicole Maines, Eddy Barrows and Eber Ferreira begin the “Countdown to Absolute Power” with this miniseries featuring the latest incarnation of the Suicide Squad. Amanda Waller is back, and she’s bringing Dreamer, Harley Quinn, Bizarro, Clock King, Black Alice and Deadeye with her.

Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance (Marvel, $4.99): Johnny Blaze’s long ride as Ghost Rider reaches its end (again) as a new Ghost Rider debuts in this special by Ben Percy and Danny Kim.

Little Black Book #1 (AWA, $3.99): Jeff McComsey and Felipe Cunha present this “neo-Western thriller” about a a straight-arrow handyman and his pregnant wife who find themselves in the crosshairs of a ruthless crime syndicate, thanks to a little black book left behind by his father.

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando #1 (Dark Horse, $3.99): This miniseries serves as a prequel to the video game of the same name, as Michael Moreci and Alberto Jimenez Alburquerque tell the story of how a group of commandos came to battle the Sludge God.

Sons of Star Trek #1 (IDW, $4.99): It’s Star Trek: The Next Next Generation, as Morgan Hampton and Angel Hernandez tell a story about Jake Sisko and Alexander Rozhenko, the sons of Sisko and Worf, landing in an alternate universe where they encounter the children of various Starfleet legends.

Symbiote Spider-Man 2099 #1 (Marvel, $4.99): Spider-Man 2099 co-creator Peter David returns to the character to tell a new adventure starring Miguel O’Hara, along with artist Rogê Antônio. As you might guess from the title, O’Hara bonds with a symbiote in the five-issue series in order to battle Venom 2099.

Washed in the Blood #1 (Massive, $4.99): Massive publisher Kevin Roditeli writes this new series featuring art by Rob Cannon and Kostas Pantoulas. It’s about a cult survivor in a frozen post-apocalyptic wasteland who finds himself tempted by the promises of “the self-proclaimed god of guns.”

Midstate #1 (Comixology Originals, $2.99): Colorist Lee Loughridge also writes this new digital series, which features art by Mack Chater. It’s about a disgraced clairvoyant who teams up with a rookie detective in an attempt to solve their town’s many missing persons cases.

Fables #162 (DC, $3.99): Ah, Fables … the series whose ending comes twice. The long-running Vertigo series originally came to an end with issue #150, but was revived in 2022 for another 12-issue run that kept the original numbering. Then at some point during the production of it, things broke down between writer Bill Willingham and DC, and Willingham decided to declare Fables was now in the public domain. That’s not exactly a happily ever after for the long-running and well-loved series.

Bristlemouth: Cove Horror #1 (IPI Comics, $4.99): Hayden Fryer writes and draws this horror miniseries about a cancer survivor on a weekend escape who ends up battling not only her own demons, but a literal one in the forest around her retreat.

Adversary (Silver Sprocket, $15.99): Blue Delliquanti debuted this story in the 2022 ShortBox Comics Fair. Set in Minneapolis in 2021, the story is about Curtis, who is “newly out, single, and ready to take his life in a different direction. Anton is a mysterious young man who recognizes Curtis from their pre-pandemic lives and reacquaints himself in a way Curtis isn’t entirely prepared for. A graphic novella about trust and failure.”

Bunt! (First Second, $17.99): Ngozi Ukazu, who is working on the upcoming Barda YA graphic novel for DC, teams with artist Mad Rupert on this story about an art student who finds that her money for school has disappeared, so she attempts to qualify for an athletic scholarship.

Call Me Iggy (First Second, $18.99): Jorge Aguirre and Rafael Rosado tell the story of Iggy, a teenager in Ohio whose love life takes a turn for the worse when he starts taking advice from the ghost of his dead grandfather.

Haru Book 1: Spring (Andrews McMeel, $14.99): Joe Latham writes and draws the first in a series of graphic novels about a small bird and a boar tasked with destroying a sinister artifact that could destroy their world.

The Mushroom Knight (Mad Cave, $19.99): This new graphic novel by Oliver Bly is about a sentient bipedal fungus created by a race of woodland gnomes “as he investigates and unearths a deadly conspiracy that reveals the true nature of himself and the devastation humans have wrought upon the global biosystem that he has sworn to protect.”

Table Titans Club (Holiday House, $13.99): Scott Kurtz writes and draws this graphic novel about the Table Titans, a group of teenage role-players whose RPG club is threatened by a wrestling coach and the popular girl. Interestingly, this story is et in the same universe as his long-running PvP comic.

Unicorn Boy (First Second, $14.99): Astronaut Academy creator Dave Roman returns with a new graphic novel about Brian Reyes, a kid who unexpectedly started growing a unicorn horn one day. Surrounded by strangeness his whole life, he now has to face sinister creatures that have kidnapped his best friend.
