Dynamite Entertainment is giving Vampirella fans plenty to sink their teeth into this fall.
In the lead-up to the San Diego Comic-Con, the publisher has announced a trio of new releases starring the Daughter of Drakulon, including crossover series with Pathfinder and Capcom’s Darkstalkers, as well as the first compact edition collecting one of the character’s most influential modern runs.
Vampirella heads to Golarion
First up is Pathfinder/Vampirella: Blade of Darkness, a new crossover series that drops Vampirella into Paizo’s fantasy roleplaying world of Golarion.
Written by Erik Burnham with artwork by Federico Dallocchio, the series begins when the vampire lord Zaloch performs a ritual intended to summon a powerful ally, but instead brings Vampirella into the world of Pathfinder. There, she crosses paths with fan-favorite heroes Kyra and Merisiel.

“Golarion is a fantastic sandbox to play in, and the only complaint I’ve had so far is that I only have so many pages to explore it,” Burnham said. “Not only has introducing Vampirella into a new world full of gods, monsters and heroes been a treat for me, so has getting to write those gods, monsters and heroes for the first time — and knock on wood, not the last!”
The series features covers by Dallocchio, Steven Cummings, Andrew Huerta and Wayne Reynolds. The first issue arrives in October.
Morrigan meets Vampirella
Dynamite is also teaming with UDON Entertainment for Vampirella vs. Darkstalkers, pairing her with Morrigan from the Capcom video game.
Written by Tim Seeley and illustrated by Drax Gal, the crossover follows Vampirella as she hunts a mysterious soul-stealing succubus in New York City—only to discover she’s actually tracking Morrigan, princess of the Makai. Before long, both women find themselves pursued by Baby Bonnie Hood, another character from the game.
“I love crossovers, which I’m sure doesn’t surprise anyone,” said Seeley. “And I especially love ones that can unexpectedly delight, and come out of nowhere. Vampi vs Morrigan is all of those things, with the added bonus of being sexy, and drawn by Drax Gal. It’s vampiress anti-heroines from games, comics, modern and retro, mashing it up with lots of teeth and skin.”
The series will feature variants by Lucio Parrillo, Francesco Mattina, Björn Barends and Joseph Michael Linsner. No release date was given beyond sometime this fall.
Classic Vampirella in a compact format
For readers looking to revisit one of Vampirella’s previous eras, Dynamite also announced Vampirella: Kurt Busiek Collection Compact Edition.
The 480-page paperback collects Busiek’s 1991 “Morning in America” miniseries, the Summer Nights special and the opening “Dracula War” storyline from the subsequent ongoing series, all published by Harris Comics. The collection also features early work by longtime Vampirella writer Tom Sniegoski, with artwork by Louis La Chance, Louis Small Jr., Dave Cockrum, James Fry and Richard Howell.
Presented in the digest-sized Compact Edition format, the collection will retail for $9.99. It arrives in October.
