With the San Diego Comic-Con kicking off tonight, we have news and announcements dropping left and right, starting with one about the convention itself.
Comic-Con International and San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria announced earlier today that the San Diego Comic-Con will stay in the city through 2030, a year that will mark 60 years of the pop culture convention.
Gloria made the announcement before preview night kicked off alongside officials from Comic-Con, the San Diego Convention Center and the San Diego Tourism Authority.
“Comic-Con belongs in San Diego, and today’s announcement ensures this incredible tradition will continue here through 2030,” Gloria said. “This agreement is the result of years of partnership and reflects our shared commitment to the fans, creators, businesses and workers who make Comic-Con unlike anything else in the world. We’re proud to welcome everyone back to San Diego for another unforgettable year and excited about the future we’re building together.”
Rumors have circulated for years that the convention could move to another city, for reasons that include the price and availability of hotels, as well as the convention center size. As San Diego’s largest convention, it is of course a huge money maker for the city, with the 2026 event expected to attract more than 135,000 attendees and generate more than $160 million in regional economic impact and $3 million in hotel and sales tax revenue for the city.
Oni Press has announced that their upcoming Archie series will get a giant-sized issue in December to celebrate the 85th anniversary of Archie. The character first appeared in Pep Comics #22 in December of 1941.

Oni and Archie will co-host an “Archie Comics: 85th Anniversary Celebration” panel in San Diego this Saturday.
Mad Cave Studios will release a Halloween special for their science fiction/horror anthology Terrorbytes.
Terrorbytes Halloween Annual #1 include stories by the winners of the 2025 Mad Cave Studios Talent Search, as well as publisher Mark London. Contributors include Jennifer Liao, DL White, Mac Rey, Aguste Calcagno, Gabriele Falzone, Pedro Estouco, Edson Jimenez, Marina Leon and Chase Snyder. Here’s a look inside:

Speaking of Halloween, Spider-Man will attempt to stop Hallows’ Eve from committing her biggest heist yet in October’s Amazing Spider-Man Halloween Special by Justina Ireland and Mike Hawthorne.
Titan Comics has revealed the covers for their upcoming adaptation of Michael Moorcock’s The Mad God’s Amulet. Titled Hawkmoon: The Mad God, the comic by writer Jérôme Le Gris and artists Benoît Dellac and Luca Bulgheroni will feature covers by Claudia Caranfa, Norm Konyu, Dellac and a wraparound map cover, also by Dellac.
Finally, both Brian and Betsy Braddock made their debuts in 1976, and to celebrate 50 years of the Captains Britain, Marvel will release an anniversary special in October.
Captain Britain 50th Anniversary Special will feature stories by Chris Claremont, Dan Abnett, Alan Davis, Kelsey Ramsay, Paul Davidson and more, with a main cover featuring Brian by Davis and a variant featuring Betsy by David Mack.
