Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard prepare for ‘all new friends, all new enemies, all new threats’ in forthcoming storyline.
During the Robert Kirkman spotlight panel at the New York Comic Con today, The Walking Dead writer and co-creator revealed the cover to issue #175 by series artist Charlie Adlard.
Per Image Comics, “This jaw-dropping new story arc of the bestselling The Walking Dead will feature all new friends, all new enemies, all new threats, and will appropriately be called, New World Order.”

New Skybound title transfers Philadelphia to an alternate dimension.
Skybound has announced the next project from The Walking Dead and Invincible scribe Robert Kirkman — Oblivion Song, co-created with artist Lorenzo De Felici. Joining the duo on the project are colorist Annalisa Leoni, letterer Rus Wooton and editor Sean Mackiewicz.
Here’s how Skybound describes the project: “A decade ago 300,000 citizens of Philadelphia were suddenly lost in Oblivion. The government made every attempt to recover them but after many years they gave up. Nathan Cole… won’t. He makes daily trips, risking his life to try and rescue those lost, alone and afraid, living in the apocalyptic hellscape of Oblivion. But maybe… Nathan is looking for something else? Why can’t he resist the siren call of the Oblivion Song?”

Jen Vaughn and Michelle Wong offer a modern take on the classic Goosebumps book ‘Say Cheese and Die!’
IDW announced back in July that they will publish a comic series based on R.L. Stine’s popular Goosebumps books by a rotating series of creators. With the first miniseries kicking off later this month, IDW has announced a second one that will follow in February.
The second three-issue arc, “DOWNLOAD AND DIE!,” is a self-contained story set in the Goosebumps universe from writer Jen Vaughn and artist Michelle Wong.
“This Goosebumps tale is going to delve into what makes friends tick and what can drive them apart,” said Vaughn. “What’s that saying, ‘you can always make new friends?’ Well, not when people find out what you did to your last ones. Michelle brought my characters to life so well…too well. They laugh, they cry, they dream, and bleed through the power of her lines. I’m terrified to read the comic now.”
Milligan will team with artist Colin Lorimer on an all-new comic series based on the original TV show.
So this just seems kind of perfect — Titan Comics has recruited Peter Milligan to write a comics adaptation of The Prisoner. He’ll be joined by artist Colin Lorimer.
The Prisoner first aired on TV in the UK in 1967 and in 1968 in the U.S. The cult classic was a surreal mix of spy fiction with sci-fi, allegory and psychological drama elements, and starred Patrick MacGoohan as Number 6 — a British secret agent who was held captive by unknown abductees in a coastal town as they tried to extract information from him.

Whedon and Erika Alexander will co-write a new miniseries starring Giles, who goes back to class as a high school student.
Joss Whedon makes his triumphant return to the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe with a new four-issue comic book limited series — Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Giles.
In the lead up to New York Comic Con, Dark Horse Comics announced that the Buffy creator will work with co-writer Erika Alexander of Concrete Park fame on the series. Artist Jon Lam, colorist Dan Jackson, and cover artists Steve Morris and Arielle Jovellanos round out the team.

Bunn tapped to write original comic book projects based on the cult classic horror film series.
Horror writer extraordinaire Cullen Bunn will have the opportunity to put his stamp on one of his favorite monsters, Pumpkinhead, in a new series coming from Dyanmite Entertainment.
“I’ll admit, when I heard that Dynamite had acquired the rights to do this book, I immediately contacted them asking to pitch for the series,” Bunn said on his website. “Good ol’ Pumpkinhead may be my favorite movie monster, and I’ve always had the urge to add my own spin to his story.” (Bunn has already decorated his Twitter page in honor of the announcement).
Dynamite announced the series in the lead-up to New York Comic Con. No artist was announced, but the series is set to launch in February.

The ‘Green Arrow” and ‘Old Man Logan’ team is joined by colorist Dave Stewart for ‘a suspenseful ongoing supernatural/horror series’ at Image Comics.
Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino breathed new life into Green Arrow and Old Man Logan at DC and MArvel, and now they’ve teamed up on a creator-owned series, Gideon Falls, at Image Comics. Dave Stewart will color the new ongoing supernatural/horror series.
“Gideon Falls has been percolating in my brain for a long long time. A lot of the ideas have been with me for over a decade, but I just never found the right time or way to pull them together…that was until I started working with Andrea Sorrentino,” Lemire said. “Andrea and I quickly developed an incredible chemistry while working on Green Arrow and Old Man Logan. And, as much as we loved working on those books, we were dying to create something all our own too, and now we have with Gideon Falls, one of the weirdest and wildest things either of us has ever done. We are excited to be at Image and excited to be unleashing Gideon Falls with the incomparable Dave Stewart joining us on colors.”

Rafael Albuquerque, Rafael Scavone and Dave Stewart will turn Gaiman’s Sherlock Holmes/H.P. Lovecraft story in a graphic novel, as P. Craig Russell and Scott Hampton return for more ‘American Gods.’
Dark Horse Comics has been turning Neil Gaiman’s short stories and novels into comics over the past few years, and in the lead up to New York Comic-Con, they’ve announced two new projects with the writer of Good Omens and American Gods.
This week brings word that Rafael Albuquerque, Rafael Scavone and Dave Stewart will adapt Gaiman’s “A Study in Emerald,” a supernatural mystery set in the world of Sherlock Holmes and H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu. Per the release, “The heart-pounding tale features the brilliant detective and his faithful partner as they attempt to solve a horrific murder of cosmic proportions. The complex investigation takes the Baker Street investigators from the slums of Whitechapel all the way to the Queen’s Palace.”

Each issue will feature two stories for the standard $3.99 price.
Valiant is following up their 2013 Harbinger Wars event series with the aptly named Harbinger Wars 2 — which will actually feature two complete stories in each issue detailing two different “fronts” in the war.
Each 44+ page issue will feature two complete, full-length 22-page stories “chronicling dueling fronts in the nationwide battle that will soon consume the Valiant Universe’s most powerful forces,” according to Valiant. Matt Kindt and Tomás Giorello will chronicle “the head-on collision of the Harbinger Renegades and the newly returned X-O Manowar,” while Eric Heisserer, Raúl Allen and Patricia Martín of Secret Weapons fame “will thrust Livewire and her new team of recruits into the center of a power struggle with the potential to tear America apart.” Each issue will cost $3.99 — so essentially you’re getting two comics for the price of one.

Ethan Sacks and Marco Checchetto revisit the world of “Old Man Logan” with a prequel story about Wolverine’s road trip buddy.
The New York Daily News reports that one of their own, Ethan Sacks, is writing a 12-issue Old Man Hawkeye series for Marvel. This prequel to the Old Man Logan series will be drawn by Marco Checchetto.
“In this story, [Hawkeye is] losing his vision and that sort of forces him to confront something really horrible that happened to him personally 45 years ago, and go on his own hero’s journey while he still can,” Sacks told the Daily News. “It’s very much like a ticking clock that’s forcing him into action.”
‘Black Hammer: Age of Doom’ by Jeff Lemire and Dean Ormston picks up after the cliffhanger from ‘Black Hammer’ #13.
Golden Gail, Abraham Slam, Barbalien and the rest of the displaced comic characters from Jeff Lemire and Dean Ormston’s excellent Black Hammer comics series will return next year in a new series, Black Hammer: Age of Doom.
“One thing Black Hammer has always done is comment on the history of superhero comics and we live in a world where superhero universes seem to be rebooted, relaunched, and rebirthed every year,” Lemire said in a press release. “It felt like we needed to play around with that idea, but put a Black Hammer spin on it. So, starting in April, Dean, Dave Stewart, Todd Klein, and I will continue the story and the mystery of Black Hammer farm in Black Hammer: Age of Doom! It’s a new series, but everything you love will stay intact and we’ll deliver the next chapter in the story of Golden Gail, Abraham Slam, Barbalien and the rest of the gang.”
The previous series ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, which Ormston said they plan to pick up on in Age of Doom.
“Black Hammer ends with a major, game-changing revelation,” Ormston said. “Readers are super keen to find out how our heroes are stuck on the farm and more answers, twists, and turns are coming in Black Hammer: Age of Doom.”
Named for artist Mike Mike Wieringo, the awards were presented over the weekend at the Baltimore Comic-Con.
The winners for the first-ever Ringo Awards were announced this weekend at the Baltimore Comic-Con. The awards are named for artist Mike Wieringo, who passed away in 2007.
The Ringos showed Skottie Young’s I Hate Fairyland some love, as the creator took home awards for Best Cartoonist and Best Humor Comic. March: Book Three by Congressman John Lewis, Andrew Aydin and Nate Powell continued to rack up accolades as it took home the awards for Best Non-fiction Comic Work and Best Original Graphic Novel. And Tom King, writer of Best Series winner The Vision, won for Best Writer. Other winners included Fiona Staples, Sean Murphy, Todd Klein, Laura Martin, Bloom County and Dean Haspiel’s The Red Hook.
The nomination process was open to anyone, while comic professionals voted on the final winners. Check out the full list of nominees below, with the winners in bold.
