Christopher Golden, Tim Lebbon and Peter Bergting will inspire ‘Mortal Terror’ this November

The miniseries imagines an underground London filled with vampires.

Christopher Golden, Tim Lebbon and Peter Bergting will flip the vampire world upside down in Mortal Terror, a new miniseries coming this fall from Dark Horse Comics. Golden and Lebbon will write the series with art by Bergting, along with colors by Chris O’Halloran and letters by Clem Robins.

Mortal Terror is set in an underground version of London filled with vampires who think the mortals living above ground and the stories of Count Dracula are just myths.

“Inventing this world with Tim and Peter has been some of the most fun I’ve had telling stories in a long time,” Golden said in a statement to Daily Dead. “It first occurred to me the way so many things do, floating up from the depths to grab my attention with a single question—what if we inverted Dracula? But that question was really just the spark. When I mentioned it to Tim, we started talking, and I knew this was the perfect next collaboration for us—not only because we enjoy working together so much, but because I knew he would have a hundred world-building questions and ideas that would make Mortal Terror so much richer.”

‘Dutch’ #0 collection sets up a new miniseries

Joe Casey was only getting started with the 1990s era Extreme Studios character.

Joe Casey and Nathan Fox’s Dutch story from the Image! 30th anniversary anthology miniseries gets collected in November, and Image Comics has announced it’ll be followed by a three-issue miniseries.

Dutch #0 serves as a prelude to the new miniseries, which again puts the focus on the 1990s character created by Chap Yaep. Dutch appeared in Supreme and related Extreme Studios titles, including Bloodstrike and Youngblood.

“This is the start of the biggest, most ambitious project I’ve ever done at Image Comics,” said Casey. “And I’m insanely proud of what Nathan and I set up in this zero issue. Revisiting this kind of classic character, catching up with him—in real time—is a narrative luxury most superhero tales would never even attempt. So for all the old school Image fans—not to mention, for anyone who’s curious what all the fuss was about back in ’92—you can’t afford to miss this. But I promise you… there’s so much more to come!”

Horror for the holidays: James Tynion IV + Joshua Hixson bring ‘The Deviant’ to Image

The nine-issue miniseries begins in November.

Worldtr33 writer James Tynion IV will team with Children of the Woods artist Joshua Hixson for a new Christmas-themed psychological crime thriller titled The Deviant.

They’ll be joined by letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou for this “pitch-black holiday horror story” that’ll run for nine issues.

The Deviant is something a little different,” said Tynion IV. “A dark, focused psychological crime thriller where I get to explore the intersection of my queer identity and a broader scope of cultural transgression and deviance. This is my response to Silence of the Lambs and Jeffrey Dahmer serving as my first real glimpses of my queer identity as a young closeted Midwestern boy. It’s one of the darkest and most personal stories I’ve ever written. It’s also a story about Christmas.”

Marvel announces ‘Star Wars: Visions’ series by creators from around the world

The series of one-shots will kick off in November with Peach Momoko.

Marvel and Lucasfilm will bring the Star Wars: Visions series to comics with a series of one-shots by comic creators from around the world — starting in November with Peach Momoko.

If you aren’t familiar with Star Wars: Visions, it’s an animated TV series on Disney+ that has featured cartoons by creators from around the world, each bringing their own style and vision to the Star Wars universe. Given that she’s already re-envisioned the Marvel Universe in her Demon Days series, Momoko seems like a natural choice to kick the initiative off.

“I really enjoy thinking about how to tell my own version of Star Wars, while keeping in mind the concepts of the original universe,” Momoko told StarWars.com.

Image Comics will publish Maria Llovet’s erotic thriller ‘Crave’

The new series kicks off in November.

Faithless creator Maria Llovet’s new series, Crave, will arrive from Image Comics this fall. Llovet will write and draw the comic, which is set at an elite university where the student body becomes obsessed with a hookup app called Crave.

Crave was born by reflecting on how we connect in the modern world; to what extent do we control how much we share, and how much others know about us, especially now that we are in the dawn of AI,” said Llovet.

Darkling takes the spotlight in a one-shot by Kuhn + Borelli

The one-shot will explore The Mighty Crusaders character’s mysterious origins and powers.

After reappearing in recent issues of Archie’s digest line, Darkling will appear in a new one-shot aimed at older readers this fall.

Writer Sarah Kuhn and artist Carola Borelli will tell the “dark academia” tale of the character, who first appeared in the Mighty Crusaders back in 1983. They’re joined by colorist Ellie Wright and letterer Jack Morelli for a story that “explores the character’s origins and her mysterious powers of teleportation in the sinister halls of Ivy Hollow University.” Darkling’s powers are somewhat dark, to say the least — she can teleport evildoers to another dimension through her cloak.

“Sarah Kuhn’s impressive work on Shadow of the Batgirl and Girl Taking Over: A Lois Lane Story made her a perfect choice to tell the story of Darla Lang,” said Archie Comics Senior Director of Editorial Jamie L. Rotante. “This one-shot explores more of her life, demystifying the character who was once defined by being cloaked in shadows. And we’re excited to work once again with artist Carola Borelli, who has a wonderful grasp of character designs and setting the right mood to tell a story.”

Bechko + Luckert will launch ‘The Space Between’ at BOOM! this fall

The story will follow the crew of a giant spaceship across multiple generations.

The Expanse writer and fossil preparator Corinna Bechko will team with Ghostlore artist Danny Luckert for a new miniseries titled The Space Between from BOOM! Studios.

Set on a spaceship called the Dodona, the series will span across generations as the starbound ark continues across the years to its destination, with each issue featuring new protagonists.

“I feel incredibly fortunate to be telling this story of romance and revolution with Danny,” said Bechko. “Life might be what happens while you’re making other plans, but what if those plans were made long before you were even born? I can’t wait for folks to enter The Space Between and find out!”

Wolverine + Sabretooth will go to war again in the 10-part ‘Sabretooth War’

The story by Benjamin Percy, Victor LaValle, Cory Smith and Geoff Shaw begins in January.

If there’s one thing you can count on, it’s that at some point, Wolverine and Sabretooth are going to fight again. This time around, that battle will last for 10 issues of Wolverine’s regular title and will be “the most violent Wolverine story ever told,” according to Marvel.

“Sabretooth is the definition of big bad—one of the nastiest, cruelest, scariest villains in the 616 and Wolverine’s greatest nemesis,” Percy said. “Which is exactly why we haven’t allowed their stories to intersect—during this age of Krakoa—until now. The tension has built up painfully, and now these two savage titans are going to claw and slash their way into each other’s lives again in what will be the most violent Wolverine story in Marvel history.”

For the story, Percy will joined by novelist Victor LaValle, who has written several series featuring Sabretooth in recent years. Each chapter will be “led” by one of the two main characters, with Cory Smith drawing the Wolverine issues and Geoff Shaw drawing those featuring Sabretooth.

Aaron + Mahnke will take Batman ‘Off-World’ in November

The writer of ‘Scalped’ and ‘The Other Side’ returns to DC following the end of his exclusive contract with Marvel.

After years — decades, even — of plotting the course of Marvel titles like Thor, Wolverine and the X-Men and Avengers, writer Jason Aaron has returned to DC for a new Batman story.

Aaron will team with artists Doug Mahnke and Jamie Mendoza for Batman: Off-World, which he describes as “a different sort of Batman story.”

“One that sees a young Dark Knight undertaking his very first trip into space,” Aaron said in his newsletter. “A journey that’s inspired by some of the DC books that made me a comics fan as a kid, and ultimately set the course for the rest of my life.”

A veteran firefighter discovers his super powers in ‘Midlife (Or How to Hero at Fifty!)’

Image Comics will publish the new series by Brian Buccellato and Stefano Simeone.

Brian Buccellato and Stefano Simeone will bring a new hero to life in Midlife (Or How to Hero at Fifty!), a new series starting at Image Comics in October.

“I’m super excited to tell this weirdly personal story that is tonally closer to my recent Aftershock series, Chicken Devil,” said Buccellato. “It’s a combination of grounded, humorous, dark, and absurd—featuring a biracial 50-year-old rookie hero who accepts the challenge of using his newfound powers for good… even if he does have a bad back and creaky knees. It’s also an opportunity to tell a superhero story from a different point of view, with a protagonist who is half Chinese and half Puerto Rican and drawn from my own life experience as a father starting a new family again at 50.”

Thanos faces a new Illuminati in a miniseries by Cantwell + Pizzari

Marvel will release the first issue in November.

Mr. Fantastic, Doctor Strange and Iron Man will unite with Emma Frost and the Blue Marvel just in time to face Thanos, as the Mad Titan returns to Earth in a new four-issue miniseries.

“I’ve had the honor and joy of writing some of Marvel’s greatest villains, so you can imagine how excited I am to not only tackle the Mad Titan himself, but pit him against some of the most powerful brains and fists out there—this latest lineup of the Illuminati,” Cantwell said. “But I think folks will find the backdrop of this story quite unexpected, mischievously funny, and heartbreakingly human, for what has drawn Thanos back screaming into the universe is a singular pain and desire for connection that he believes only one essence in existence (and non-existence) can give him… while this being is in turn grappling with some deeper questions about what they are, and what they want to be. Plus, Thanos hot-wires a pickup truck.”
