‘Wynd’ soars again in August

James Tynion IV and Michael Dialynas return to the skies of Esseriel for a new five-issue miniseries.

James Tynion IV and Michael Dialynas will return to the world of Wynd this August for another miniseries subtitled “The Throne in the Sky.”

Wynd at its heart is about how people resist change in themselves and the world around them, and how that fear fills them with hate. It’s about how young people must navigate a world in which change is necessary, and overcome that hate to find themselves and find a path forward for their people and their world,” said Tynion IV.  “I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with Michael Dialynas to bring the Wynd saga to a whole new level. The stage has been set, the world of Esseriel is at the brink of war, and our band of teenagers are at the heart of unraveling a centuries old mystery that could change the face of their world forever. This is where our Fantasy epic kicks into a high gear, and moves ever closer to its action-packed climax. We can’t wait for you to see what we have in store for you.”

BOOM!’s ‘Wynd’ will return in 2021

The series by James Tynion IV, Michael Dialynas and Aditya Bidikar will continue with new issues next year.

BOOM! Studios has announced that Wynd, the five-issue miniseries by The Woods team of James Tynion IV, Michael Dialynas and Aditya Bidikar, will return with issue #6 in May.

The series, which was originally supposed to be a graphic novel, was released early and as a miniseries as a way to help retailers when the comics industry returned from its COVID-19 lockdown earlier this year.

“James, Michael, and Aditya have built a world so steeped in magic and adventure, it’s been an absolute pleasure to see it all unfold,” said Eric Harburn, Senior Editor, BOOM! Studios. “Wynd’s story is far from over, and we can’t wait to show fans and new readers alike what’s in store for the magical winged boy and his friends as they journey across Esseriel in search of the place they truly belong.”

Can’t Wait for Comics | Jam with Snyder and Capullo on ‘Death Metal’

New comics arrive this week from Michel Fiffe, James Tynion IV, Tom King, Evan Shaner, Mitch Gerads and more.

This week brings another Wednesday without single issues from Dark Horse and Marvel arriving in shops, as they both only have trade paperbacks and graphic novels on their lists for the week. But DC, IDW, Image and other publishers are offering plenty if you’re looking for a single-issue fix.

If you’re wondering what to get this week, check out a few recommendations below. You can check the Comic List page to see what’s arriving in your local shop, and the comiXology new releases page for what’s available digitally. As always, you should check with your local shop on their hours, curbside pick-up, etc. due to the coronavirus pandemic. Stay safe out there.

Now that they’re using multiple distributors, it makes sense that DC Comics would launch a new means for communicating distribution information vs. just limiting it to Diamond’s Previews. That seems to be DC Connect, a new, downloadable catalog they announced this week. It contains information on upcoming comics and graphic novels, with plans to expand it to include “talent interviews, preview pages from upcoming stories, behind-the-scenes looks at projects in development, multimedia content and more.”
