Hold on to your heads: Dark Horse announces ‘Headless Horseman Halloween Annual’

The anthology will come out in October, of course.

Dark Horse heads to Sleepy Hollow this October for Headless Horseman Halloween Annual, an anthology of “five terrifying tales to warm up your cold soul.”

“Doing a Halloween-themed anthology has always been a dream of mine, and we were able to assemble a fantastic crew of creators to help carry out that vision,” said editor Megan Walker. “The book is full of fun, creepy and iconic stories that will scare and delight readers. I can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on it!”

Creators involved in the project include:

  • Angela Slatter (Castle Full of Blackbirds)
  • Lukas Ketner (Count Crowley: Reluctant Midnight Monster Hunter)
  • Olivia Stephens (Darlin’ and Her Other Names)
  • Phillip Sevy (Tomb Raider, The House)
  • Christie Porter (The Color of Always)
  • Leah Kilpatrick
  • David Dastmalchian (Count Crowley)
  • Valeria Burzo (Castle Full of Blackbirds)
  • Tyler Crook (Harrow County)
  • Frank Cvetkovic (The House)

“There is a controlled kind of magic in one-shot, anthological storytelling that follows a tradition of EC Comics, short films and even well-crafted jokes. Getting to collaborate with the amazing Leah Kilpatrick and one of my favorite artists, Tyler Crook, under Megan Walker’s guidance has been the perfect laboratory to cook up a twisted Halloween tale!” Dastmalchian said.

The main cover, shown above, is by Ketner, while Mike Mignola provides a variant:

The 56-page comic will retail for $7.99 and lands in stores Oct. 23.
